Writing a Personal Statement for your CV

A personal statement is an important part of a CV, and it if is written correctly, it can help your chances of gaining the job you desire. A personal statement should be written in first person, and it should ideally be no more than 200 words.

It should be short and punchy; explaining who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done your skills and what you want to do in the future. There’s a lot to say, but you don’t have to tell the potential employer everything about yourself, just key, relevant information.

Your personal statements; much like your cover letter, should match person and job specifications with well written copy. The employer will then be able to see that you’re suited to their job, and they will not have to look far to gain the information they need.
