Job share roles and what that means

You may have seen a job advertised that states the position is based on a job share role. This basically means that the job will be shared by someone else. It may mean that you are going to be working with someone else that is already working for the business or that the position has been advertised for two new people.

There are some things that you should consider when looking at job share roles, some points are positive and others may not suit you. Sharing responsibility with someone else can be great, two minds to think things through and bounce ideas, share the work load and work closely with someone on something you are passionate about. Say this though, there can also be a negative side of the position. If you find that you are having to work with someone that you do not get on with, or has a totally different working style to you this could cause problems. It may be that you are sharing the role with someone that is not very good at passing on information to you or updating records, this can actually cause you a lot more work in the long run.

If possible try and find out how the role will be split i.e. is it that you will each have totally sepreate responsibilities or clients that you will look after or will you be working on ongoing projects together.
